Meet the Doctor.
Gina Wilson, DVM, cVMA
Dr. Gina Wilson has been practicing in the Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. area since moving here in 2006. A native of Ohio, Dr. Wilson grew up in the suburbs of Dayton. She earned both her undergraduate and veterinary degrees from The Ohio State University.
Dr. Wilson has worked as an associate at various hospitals in the area and also worked for a short time in D.C. for the Washington Humane Society. She later transitioned to teaching and was an Associate Professor of Veterinary Technology at Northern Virginia Community College, overseeing the education and training of future generations of veterinary nurses.
Later, Dr. Wilson embarked on relief / locum work - functioning as a temporary doctor filling in for permanent staff members - at multiple hospitals in Northern Virginia. In fact, maybe you’ve seen her around! Now, she is thrilled to have the opportunity to bring her own vision of compassionate care to the community she has grown to love to call home: Alexandria, Virginia.
Professionally, Dr. Wilson is passionate about partnering with clients to give them the tools necessary to make informed decisions about the best possible care for their beloved furry friends. She is a strong proponent of the importance of the human-animal bond for both parties involved. Dr. Wilson loves preventative medicine, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, epidemiology, and public health. She is also certified in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture.
Away from work, Dr. Wilson shares a home in Alexandria with her long term partner (high school sweethearts!) and two wonderful cats. She loves nature, hiking, being both on and under the water (kayaking, snorkeling, etc), mountains, skiing, live music, dining out, travel, and sports. She is a long-suffering but loyal fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and is a season ticket holder for the Washington Spirit.
