Toebeans & Tails Veterinary Hospital has a state-of-the-art surgical suite and offers surgical services for most soft tissue procedures, including but not limited to: 

• Spay/neuter
• Mass/growth removal
• Abscess/wound debridement
• Hernia repair
• Laceration repair
• Urinary stone removal
• Exploratory surgeries (such as foreign body removal or intestinal biopsy collection)
• Most dental procedures and minor oral surgeries

Orthopedic (bone) surgeries often require specialized training or equipment that Toebeans & Tails may not have on hand. For these cases, we partner with traveling board-certified surgeons, who will come to us and perform surgery in our suite. This option is more convenient for you and can potentially mitigate your pet’s anxiety by not having to visit an unfamiliar hospital. Perhaps most importantly, it allows our doctors and nurses to maintain a close relationship with your pet throughout the surgery and recovery process. 

To make sure your pet is healthy enough for surgery and anesthesia, Dr. Wilson will perform a pre-surgical exam and conduct pre-anesthetic blood tests. Prior to full sedation, your pet will receive medication to help them relax.

To further ensure your pet's safety, we use modern anesthetics and comprehensive monitoring. Pulse & respiratory rates, EKG, blood gas, blood pressure, and temperature are monitored throughout the procedure. Certified technicians will continue to monitor your pet through the recovery process and make sure they are kept as comfortable as possible.

Proper home care is an important part of the healing process. When your pet is discharged we'll go over all of the home care instructions with you and provide any medications necessary to alleviate discomfort. Written instructions will accompany all surgical releases.
