Laboratory Diagnostics

At Toebeans & Tails Veterinary Hospital, we partner with state-of-the-art animal diagnostics laboratories providing cutting-edge, highly accurate diagnostic tools. Dr. Wilson can consult with pathologists, internal medicine specialists, and other veterinary specialists about your pet’s results if a more in-depth analysis is called for. 

Additionally, we are able to quickly diagnose a variety of diseases including diabetes, kidney failure, pancreatitis, and parasite infection with the help of our in-house laboratory. Using only small amounts of blood drawn from your pet, we can have results on the same day. This is especially important if your pet needs surgery or if we suspect an illness that needs to be treated immediately.

If your pet is having surgery, the pre-anesthetic blood work can help us identify underlying problems, so we can adjust our anesthetic protocols appropriately to minimize the risk to your beloved friend. 

While fasting for bloodwork is not required, we do tend to get better results after fasting for 8-12 hours.
